Anime that makes you go hmmmm???
or WTF was that all about?!
Paranoia Agent - was good up until half way through the 3rd disk. Then I couldn't tell what was going on.
Wolf's Rain. Fairly decent - again, a wtf ending. It was like - why did they bother going through all that if everything just got reset in the end anyway.
Ghantz - haven't finished this yet, and it kind of looks to be a social commentary on firearms or people who have power but don't use it or somesuch -again - it's a bit of mind trip. (And it's really violent).
Edited: because "was was" is not the same as "what was"

Neon Genesis gave me a headache, but I don't get exposed to much in the way of anime, so this could just be standard. Plus there were lots of still picture parts where various people in the room exclaimed, "and thus the animation budget was saved!"
XD

Very very typical of anime - it's part of the way they do things....

Me too! It was all going well until the last few episodes. I felt so dumb after that. And they're planning on making a movie of that one? Oooh dear...
Oh and I also had a WTF moment with another teens-with-mecha series called Gasaraki.
They're the reasons why I stick to the funny, low-brow kind of anime. And as far as the mecha theme goes I'll just stick with funny Patlabor (the TV series that is. The movie was a tad serious if memory serves.)

You should check out the "End of Evangelion" which is a kind of retelling of those last two episodes.

Most anime confounds me because it ALWAYS makes me feel that I've walked into a private conversation when someone stops me to ask me something...now I have to stay and listen, but I have NO idea who these people are, or what the hell they're talking about.

Sword of Truth. While I thought it was going to be a decent paranormal anime with a samurai who was going to smite down evil, it turned into a sex-fest fiasco. Granted, I do not mind adult content in anime, but they could at least make it a good storyline instead of just...sex. *sighs*
Louvette, Darchala, and everyone else who made commentaries concerning Neo Genesis Evangelion: I am with you on Neo Genesis Evangelion. I thought the series was good until the last few episodes - then it turned into a complete soap opera that did not make sense at all. Drama is fine by me, but they need to have a purpose for it. For instance, did they have to face their demons before the last few episodes? What was the point? It seemed all...soapish as opposed to self-focus. LOL
I cannot really think of many others...

I watched Eva twice in one sitting. Once subbed, then dubbed. Yes, that was ~20 hours straight of Evangelion. At the end, it all made sense. Then I woke up and it didn't anymore.
Here's a WTF anime: Serial Experiment Lain. The ending! Oh, the ending!
And Boogiepop Phantom. That's one, too.
And then there are the ones where I wonder what the creators were thinking when they made it, like FLCL and Puni Puni Poemy.

I just got Berserk a month or so ago, and that is so true. Even with the beginning with him in a despotic wasteland fighting some kind of demon and knowing that something big was going to happen at the end, I still wasn't prepared for that.
But, now I have to get the manga!
