I'm still in shock. After all these years we're going to get a brand new Baldur's Gate adventure! It's going to be an Expansion for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition. Site: siegeofdragonspear.com The reveal trailer: When I heard the booming voice of MINSC I almost teared up. Yeah I'm a super nerd... so what. I am just so excited for this.

Ohh that is exciting! It will be interesting to see how they handle the writing because this time they won't be restricted within the confines of an existing game (sortof, depends on whether it takes place between BG2 and ToB or somehow after ToB). I wonder how many previous party members will be returning? I would have guessed that they'd keep it to a minimum and make a bunch of new characters... But that trailer shows the portraits of Dynaheir and Khalid?? People are coming back from the dead? We can see the portraits of Dorn, Minsc, Dynaheir, Safana, Khalid, Jaheira and Neera in the bits of gamplay footage. There seem to be at least two new characters in there that aren't Charname as well. Looks like a lot of things to investigate further and look up or wait and see what they tell us. But new Infinity Engine adventuring, yay! Edit: Ohhh I see, so it takes place between BG1 and BG2? That explains Khalid and Dynaheir.

It looks amazing, it's supposed to be huge too. They even got David Warner (Irenicus) back to do some voice work so I can't wait to see/hear that. I'm also excited about the new Shaman class. That's going to be added to BG:EE and BG2:EE free so that's cool of them.

I never got around to playing BGEE, even though I bought it. Just couldn't do the same old quests over again, even with a few new characters on board. So I'm dead excited about this. And now I've found out David Gaider's left Bioware and joined Beamdog, so I guess he may be working on it?
(Edit - probably not if they are now content complete).

Maybe Gaider won't be involved with this one, but there are probably more mods available for BGEE now that can help mix things up a bit if you're replaying.
And! No doubt Gaider will be involved with future projects. If they're doing this expansion, chances are we might be getting more expansions. And, perhaps, if we're very optimistic.... Baldur's Gate 3.
Also interesting to note that Chris Avellone left Obsidian partway through last year. No word on what he'll be doing next though.
