The Beginning of Brei
There are many things that the living beings fear. Chief among them is death. Death is ever present, ever looming over the living and frightening them with the fear of what comes after it. Everyone dies and everyone lives before they die. But what if death was more than just an entity? What if death took physical form? He did. He took the form of a human man and this man became the consort of an Elven queen named Amari Issani. Amari did not know her lovers secret until she felt the dark magic of the child they made as she carried this child. It was already too late to stop it though. Death had achieved his purpose. For a long time death had been bored and curious. Could Death itself also give life? Apparently so and thus Brei Issani was born. Her father was questioned and revealed to be Death itself in human form. His body destroyed he became a mere entity once again leaving his daughter alone to face the wrath of Amari.
The golden haired Amari who was the most regal and prideful of any of her high elven people was disgusted with her daughter. Brei was born a personification of Death's human form. A half-elf with raven colored hair and icy blue-grey eyes. She was a silent baby and her childhood was spent in seclusion Amari hid her away so her shame would go unnoticed. Amari planned to keep Brei hidden until she died of old age but something happened to change these plans. Brei's power awakened. An angry guard charged by Amari to watch the death spawn as Brei was often called pushed her from the tower four stories up. Brei should have died that day. Her skull cracked upon the stones and for a moment it seemed the elves would be rid of what they deemed a curse and bad omen.
Death opened his gates for his daughter at the age of seven. Brei became tied to the realm of death and life alike. She awoke in a pool of blood as her body mended itself at a rate impossible even for elves. The once dormant magic Brei possessed now ran through her body and blood like wildfire. As Amari realized her daughter survived she ordered her guards to capture Brei claiming her daughter was a necromancer and that they should burn her. Brei escaped them her hatred of her mother growing to encompass all elves as they demanded her blood and death. Brei fled to human lands and managed to find an elderly mage who trained her in Necromancy and other destructive magics. Brei's anger slowly abated as she grew. Aric, the human mage she learned from was wise and slowly began to teach her restraint. Only attack when cornered only fight to defend yourself or those you care for. Those were the corner stones of her mentor's teachings.
In twelve years the elves found the remote tower where Brei lived with Aric. They killed the older mage before he could utter a word in his defense and Brei's years of peace were shattered into pieces. It was then she first understood what grief was. Aric had be her mentor but he was also as close to a loving family as Brei had ever possessed. Amari had led the attack and it was her mothers gloating face as she leveled a sword at her daughter, her own blood that caused Brei to snap. Retribution was delivered swift and coated in death. The elven kingdoms lost their queen but Brei did not stop there. She raised an army of undead with her power and marched on the capital city of the elves. It burned and as Brei strode into the courtyard where she had first awaken her power she froze. Up in the tower she could see a little girl, she focused on the child only to see Amari's face in the girl. Brei had a sister. Isyndra had been taught nothing but hatred for Brei but Brei found her hate failed when she discovered her sister's existence. Brei disappeared that day swearing she would never strike out in anger again that she would follow her dead mentors teachings and only defend herself. Isyndra remained alive and despite Brei's change of heart she had made an enemy that would not be easily evaded or lost.
