Okay, since all the companion characters have been officially introduced now, I'm curious what people think of them. Here's the links first of all (if some of my info is dated, let me know!) - Mages:Vivienne (human female) Wiki PageInterviewDorian (human male, confirmed romance for Male Inquisitor) Wiki PageInterviewSolas (elven male) Wiki PageInterviewRogues:Cole (human male... sort of) Wiki PageInterview Varric (dwarven male) Wiki PageInterview Sera (elven female, confirmed romance for Female Inquisitor) Wiki PageInterviewWarriors:Iron Bull (Qunari male, confirmed manwhore, so romance is assumed) Wiki PageInterviewCassandra (human female, confirmed romance) Wiki PageInterviewBlackwall (human male) Wiki PageInterviewThe companion I'm probably most excited about is Cole. If you haven't read Asunder, DO IT. (I'm halfway through The Masked Empire as well, and it is also quite good.) I can't wait to see how he's changed since the book. I'm really interested in Iron Bull and Varric, and Solas is a little more interesting than I suspected he'd be. I hate to be one of THOSE people, but practically all of the characters are rather physically unattractive. I don't know how they can make the world so lovely, but the faces so... odd. I'm positive I'll get used to it and it won't bother me when I'm playing, but it's hard not to focus on how plastic many of them look in screenshots. One thing they've said about romances is that characters aren't just picky about the gender (ie, they have sexual preferences, as opposed to DA2 where the LI's were mindless Hawke-adoring automatons), but about race and maybe even class. One of the quotes about Bull is that he will sleep with anyone he's "reasonably sure he won't break." Maybe that means no elves or dwarves or something? It's also stressed that he's very leery of mages because he fears demons. Does that mean no mage romance? As much as I really do like the idea of companions with opinions, I hope there's some sort of guide that comes out early on. I hate chasing tail that never gives in! Also, look at all those men on the team! Which I like, since I usually end up irritated with female companions. EDIT: Huh, sorry that the links are half stupid... let me see if I can fix that... aaand fixed.

I haven't really been following things, but just taking a look at the Solas wiki page I almost could have sworn that he had Nicholas Cages face plastered on him ... I actually thought it might be a prank, but scrolling down it seems to be his actual face. He has a really short forehead (which contributed to the face plastered on impression I got). I'm sure people normally have more... head on the top of their heads than that. Also, Cole appears to have hair that looks like it's completely matted together, like a hairball the cat threw up. And Blackwall seems to have odd almost cat-like eyes? At least those are my quick impressions of them from glancing at their wiki pages just now XD

Wow! So many good companion choices. I'm really looking forward to this game. I think I like Dorian the best so far though Varric and Iron Bull come close as well.
I also love how they seem to be giving the companions actual preferences and likes and dislikes when it comes to romancing the PC. That was sorely lacking in DA2 when everyone minus Varric seemed to fight over Hawke. DA:O was better about that but in both games they still seemed scared to cross the boundaries and make an outright gay character. Even Zevran and Lilliana were both bisexual as was every character in DA2. I get that some people have a problem with it but its just a game and they don't have to play that part of it if they don't want to. More than that its a roleplay game where you immerse yourself in another world and create a character that is not you but someone else. Those games should have as many options as the players want it to and is possible for the developer to create. I am female but I still like playing male characters and yes some of those end up as gay or bisexual male characters. Besides if they can make a character like Isabella then what is so bad about a gay character....
Ranting aside...Dorian sounds really fun though a sarcastic witty mage? Sign me up! As long as he doesn't come with too much baggage he will get along with my snarky mages just fine! They do have a snarky dialog option still I hope? Hawke's snarky comments were the only really good thing about DA2's dialog in my opinion. I won't even mind making a male PC to romance him either. I have to have my mandatory male elf mage playthrough anyway you know.

Yes, but what about heterosexual, commited romances for a female character? What do you think? Solas? Blackwall? As far as I know only Cullen is confirmed and he is not even a companion:)

In my wildest dreams, every companion is a romance for some variation of Inquisitor. I will happily run different combinations and romance the lot of them! Well, most of them. If Vivienne is half as Orlesian as she looks, she'll be baking cookies back at home for most of the game... I'm very curious to hear more about the non companion romances. I follow the Facebook updates only (I want little spoilers, but not huge ones), so I don't know if there has been more info put out on them from other sources. Cullen is certainly on my To Do List (hurr hurrr), but I'm not sure of the other advisers. EDIT: lol... apparently they're starting the Advisers' introductions on Facebook today. They must be reading my mind. Regarding Cole's hair: I try so hard to justify that hair - it's not like he thinks about his looks or takes care of his physical self - but it really does look like a handful of straw and animal hair glued to his scalp. Whhhhyyy is it so hard for BioWare to make good hair??

If Vivienne is half as Orlesian as she looks, she'll be baking cookies back at home for most of the game... My thoughts exactly;) Solas seems to be an interesting character and probably my type of guy ("introvert with a subtle wit", I like the sound of that!), and I hope some morph mods will quickly eliminate the issue of his not-so-stunning looks. I am also curious if Alistair can be a non-companion romance option - I mean, if he still remains single after DAO.

Solas is on my list for certain if he is romanceable by female characters. And Cullen! That made my day when I heard he was a romance option. So I have a female mage playthrough just for my favorite Templar! I wonder how they are going to handle Cullen's personality though....he went through a lot of bad drama in the previous games. But Solas other than being bald looks like he would be a very interesting companion. His personality seems like something I would like a great deal even though I like my hair...someone get that guy a wig.

(I'm halfway through The Masked Empire as well, and it is also quite good.) I am also halfway through this, and it's boring me to tears. I haven't picked it up in a couple of weeks. There's just nothing happening, and even when something did happen all I could think was, Are you really that stupid Errghhh. It's all political intrigue BS which I hate. It's like if the whole of DA:O was the Landsmeet, with one mini-fight where you get your hiney kicked mixed in for variety.

See, I just read Asunder last week, which mentions Gaspard and Celine and the fighting in generalities, but doesn't give any details at all about the whys and hows of it. The Masked Empire interests me because I feel like a lot of the dots are being connected. I actually enjoy court intrigue in stories and games. I'd be downright disappointed if we went all the way to Orlais and didn't get to verbally eviscerate anyone in front of a crowd of powered wigs!

Leliana InterviewShe's a human Liara with red hair. I'm neither a huge fan nor a hater of her by any means, but I just can't figure out what's so necessary about her that she has to be in everything even remotely related to Dragon Age. Still, I'm very much interested to see if she'll be different if she was hardened vs. unhardened in Origins. Don't make promises you can't keep, BioWare.

If any of you have any burning questions. ----------- On topic: I'm most looking forwards to meet Dorian, mostly because of his magnificent mustache. But also for the snark. Next on my list are Solas, Blackwall and Sera. On the fence about the rest.
I think that Solas face is pretty. And I don't mind him being bald. When I look at him I feel like he is what they wanted to do with the elves in DA2. He looks alien, but yet you can see human elements in him. I also tought that the DA2 elves looked a bit too much like the Na'vi in Avatar. I keep picturing him singing the song from Aladdin, I can show you the world. Can anyone else see it? "I can show you the fade, shining, shimmering splendor! Tell me Quizzy when did you last let your heart decide <3 "
And I will be very irate if the Iron Bull refuses to bed dwarves "Because he might break them". Dwarves are far more sturdy than humans or elves. I will understand if he refuses to date them to avoid the fierce back-pains in the future. Because all that bending will destroy his back.

Aaand: Josephine InterviewI'm kind of disappointed that all of the advisers are non-mage (unless Jo is secretly a mage?) humans. All the more reason to play a non-human and show them all how it's done.

Since I'm filtering through the BW answers from the Q&A today, I thought I'd share anything interesting. Regarding approval: Regarding PC specs, such as Templar or Blood Mage: Regarding customization: Regarding racism: Regarding PC background: Regarding kossith headwear (lol): Regarding size of the world: Also: the minimap is back, tactical camera is back and supposedly improved, there are lots of neutral choices now rather than just good and bad, the Inquisitor will regularly be referred to by their surname (Human- Trevelyan; Elven - Lavellan; Dwarven - Cadash; Qunari - Adaar), diplomacy skills have changed, and wow there's so much info here! D: I'll edit if there's anything really amazing, but so far it's just interesting little bits here and there. Edit: Not all party members are romance options. /sadface! Edit 2: LOL! Q:Is Iron Bull a romance? A:"Iron Bull likes bed time Olympics" XD Edit 3: LMAOomgdying - "There will be romance scenes, but not necessarily just focused on sex. In all cases, we will strive to keep all romantic moments both moisturized and supple, like a well-tended leather jacket, swaying gently on the back of a bar's patio chair in the twilight of the first warm day of the year." --Laidlaw Edit 4: An actually useful bit of info: if you like the look of, say, mage robes, but are a rogue, you can use the crafting system to create something that looks like the robes but works for your rogue's stats - very interested to play around with the crafting system! Edit 5: "The game doesn't end when you finish the main story."

There will apparently be 8 romances in the game, one of them being neither a companion nor an advisor. Josephine will be a bisexual romance, Cullen and Cassandra are straight (at that point all hell broke loose on BSN). Only two romances have a race preference, for story reasons.
