Valen's poem
anyone ever heard of it?
Has anyone ever heard of the poem Valen is supposed to recite to the PC in the game? I heard they cut it from the play in the end...
I found it somewhere in the Internet... I don't know where it was and thought I could post it here...
Erm... if anyone posted it already, I apologize...
*hides under the desk*
Through Abyssal Pits and Hells of cold,
Across celestial heights and seas of gold,
I cannot be kept from you.
From the astral depths and wastes of grey,
By the gates of Sigil with beasts at play,
I will always wait for you.
Neither death nor fear nor power scorn’d
Shall make my love forsworn’d.
My soul, my flesh, my heart is true,
These with eternity my gift to you.

..is there a part in that guy that isn't utterly endearing? Because I don't think I've ever seen any.
I can't remember if I've seen it before, but that poem is definitely the cutest thing I've read all day. ^_^ So thanks.

Squeeee!!!
*faints*
This is the first I have ever heard of this, Cylis. A part of me understands why they would have had to cut it, though - all those loyal PTF's in little gooey puddles on the floor...
*shakes head sadly*
It would have been so tragic.
Gods! Could you imagine if he actually sang it to your PC, in that wonderful, scratchy, off-key singing voice of his?
*faints again*

*sigh*
definitely swoon worthy
I have a vague recollection of something at Ladies of Neverwinter about this, and a wallpaper by Lady Winde that had part of this poem on it.
My poor hubby - his pixelated competition just gets better and better *cackle*

I love it!
I wish they had included the poem in the game, but as Wintersinger said, I would have been a little gooey puddle on the floor then...

Is that poem written but not included in the game? Like all the dialogues that were cut? What a shame that so much written material got cut and never fixed...
Everytime I play, I give Valen the "Wind by the Fireside" book to carry with him (firstly because he can carry two tons of stuff and also because I thought it was cute in a cheesy way ). The poem in it is very sweet too... and I see it like "my" response to his poem.

This is really weird...
I own the german version of the game, so obviously I can't directly recognise the text, yet it still seems familiar... I really think something like this appeared when I was playing - in german obviously. Well, there certainly was some sort of love poem approximately of the same length and roughly about the same things... I tried not to listen to it because I mostly hate Valen's voice when he recites poems or *gasp* starts humming. I find it strange that a translation had something the original did not have...
*regards the angry faces of fangirls closing in*
Hey, don't hold it against me! '
As I said, I only have the games in german, and while the voice acting and translation was surprisingly good (they even translated Halaster's dialogue, still making it rhyme! ), I admit I have pretty much no idea what you guys (or gals, rather) mean when you say Valen has a gorgeous voice...
Hm... Judging by what I saw on the forums, it seems my german version also had a lot less voiceovers than the original.
*drowns in self-pity*

Owning the German Version, too, having played the whole thing about a dozen times and having spent HOURS searching the toolset for special dialogue lines I thought it impossible that I still missed something.
And it's sooo wonderful... *melting*
Where and how did you get it?
(I think I will have to rehear all voice files again...)

Yeah the poem is really!! cute!! *swoon*
I also haven't found the poem on neither the german nor theenglish version *head scratch* and me too as looked the dialogs up and down.
But for ppl who want to hear the voice of valen in other languages we once had an internet site with at least the polish and the german. Tash had seen to the site. If it still exist somebody could copy the english one for you to hear. Anyway, I can tell from self experience: havng heard and being used to the german one it's really awful hearing the english in the begin. It sounded like a 60 year old granpa to me, while the german one is so smooth and young. Anyway you kind of get used it when hearing his love confesion over and over again

The site sure exists, but unfortunately I forgot to log in there in time and my free account was deactivated after 60 days so it means I lost the German and Polish files stored there. But if someone has them somewhere on their comps just email them to me - and the English version, too - and I'll put them up there again.
